"The
most important actor in most Stooges films, besides the Stooges
themselves, was the sharp-nosed, wide-eyed Emil Sitka... His presence
was such a mainstay of the operation that many thought of him as an
undeclared 'fourth Stooge.'"

The first project in late 1970
fell through, but a second opportunity in 1975 came up. Contracts were
signed, scripts written, rehearsals planned, and shooting dates
scheduled. It was actually going to happen: Emil Sitka would be a
Stooge! Alas, it was not to be. When shooting was to begin, Moe requested a delay. Unknown to Emil at the time, Moe had suddenly become seriously ill. Week after week, the new Stooge team's film dates were postponed. Just when the rest of the filming was wrapping up and it looked like their last chance was about to slip away, Moe's son called Emil to say Moe had died and to come to the funeral, thus putting an end once and for all to The Three Stooges.
